What the test evaluates

The test “What Should You Change in Yourself to Find the Right Partner for a Serious Relationship” is designed to evaluate which aspects of a person’s behaviour, choices, expectations and use of personal resources may prevent them from finding a partner who is suitable for building a stable and serious relationship.

It shows how well a person understands their own needs, whether they can choose a partner without being guided only by strong emotions, recognise incompatibility, establish personal boundaries, discuss difficult issues and realistically assess the future of a relationship.

Sometimes the problem is not the absence of suitable people, but the person’s own repeated patterns of behaviour. They may keep choosing the same type of partner, become emotionally involved too quickly, ignore warning signs, fear being alone, have contradictory expectations or expect a relationship to solve their personal and practical problems.

The test helps identify which internal attitudes and habitual actions support the repetition of unsuccessful relationship patterns and what exactly should be changed to make the choice of a partner more conscious and consistent with the goal of building a serious relationship.

What changing yourself means

Within this test, changing yourself does not mean giving up your personality, character, values, appearance, life experience or individuality for another person.

It also does not mean becoming convenient for someone else, constantly giving in, tolerating disrespect, suppressing your own needs or meeting every demand of a potential partner.

Change means being able to recognise your own repeated actions, decisions and expectations that reduce the likelihood of building a suitable relationship. This may include trusting too quickly, choosing someone only because of their appearance, avoiding direct conversations, hiding important needs, accepting unsuitable conditions or continuing a relationship in which serious incompatibility is already clear.

A person cannot fully control another person’s behaviour and cannot guarantee that a suitable partner will appear. However, they can change how they meet people, assess compatibility, make decisions, establish boundaries and distribute their time, attention, energy and money.

The main question is whether the person’s current behaviour helps them find a partner for a serious relationship or repeatedly leads them into relationships that do not meet their real needs and long-term goals.

What is examined in the test

The test evaluates a person’s readiness to search for and choose a suitable partner through four areas: Behaviour, Choice, Demand and Money.

Behaviour

Behaviour shows how a person acts while meeting someone, becoming closer and developing a relationship. The test examines whether they can speak openly about their intentions, establish boundaries, discuss disagreements, maintain their own position and recognise repeated relationship patterns.

It also evaluates how the person reacts to uncertainty, rejection, emotional distance, jealousy, conflict, strong emotional attachment and the fear of losing a relationship.

Choice

Choice shows how a person decides whether a particular partner is suitable for them. It is important to understand whether they consider values, life goals and attitudes towards family, children, fidelity, everyday life, work, money and responsibility.

The test examines whether the person can distinguish strong initial attraction from genuine compatibility and end a relationship when important differences make a shared future unlikely.

Demand

Demand shows how well a person understands what kind of relationship and partner they are actually looking for. Sometimes the stated goal of finding a serious relationship does not correspond to the person’s real expectations, habits and requirements.

A person may seek closeness while avoiding commitment, demand complete openness while hiding important circumstances themselves, or look for stability while choosing emotionally unavailable partners. The test helps reveal these internal contradictions.

Money

Money shows how the search for a partner and a future relationship are connected to the person’s resources. This concerns not only the level of income, but also financial responsibility, expectations of a partner and attitudes towards shared expenses, debts, housing, work and standard of living.

The test also examines whether the person attempts to use money to receive attention, keep a partner, create a false impression or compensate for a lack of trust, closeness and compatibility.

What the result shows

The test result shows which personal characteristics help a person find a suitable partner and which increase the risk of repeating unsuitable, unstable or one-sided relationships.

The test helps reveal where a person acts consciously and where their decisions are influenced by fear of loneliness, strong initial attraction, a habitual type of partner, pressure related to age, family expectations, negative past experiences or the desire to begin a relationship as quickly as possible.

The result is not limited to a general assessment of readiness for a serious relationship. It identifies specific areas that may require change: the way the person meets potential partners, the speed of emotional involvement, selection criteria, personal boundaries, attitudes towards conflict, expectations of a partner, readiness to discuss the future and attitudes towards children, everyday life, work and money.

For example, a person may clearly understand what kind of partner they are looking for but become emotionally attached too quickly and stop noticing incompatibility. Another person may maintain boundaries and choose carefully but have such contradictory expectations that no real person could meet them.

The main purpose of the result is not to provide an abstract explanation for unsuccessful relationships, but to identify specific actions, decisions and expectations that the person should reconsider in order to search for a suitable partner more consciously.

What the test is not

The test does not guarantee that a person will find a partner or begin a serious relationship within a particular period. Finding the right person depends not only on personal changes, but also on the environment, social circle, life circumstances, place of residence and the decisions of other people.

The test does not provide a medical, psychological, psychiatric or legal diagnosis. It does not identify a personality disorder, illness, sexual compatibility or a person’s ability to love.

The test does not judge a person as good or bad, or as deserving or undeserving of a relationship. Being without a partner does not by itself mean that something is wrong with the person.

The test also does not require a person to abandon their values, lower reasonable standards, tolerate disrespect or change their personality to meet another person’s expectations.

The test works within the Iv. Spolan model and examines the search for a suitable partner through Behaviour, Choice, Demand and Money. Its purpose is to identify the person’s own repeated actions and decisions that can be changed without making them responsible for the behaviour of other people.

Who this test is for

The test is suitable for a person who wants to find a partner for a serious relationship but does not understand why new connections fail to develop, relationships end quickly or the same negative pattern keeps repeating.

It may be useful for a person who frequently chooses partners who are emotionally unavailable, already involved with someone else, irresponsible or unprepared for a serious relationship.

The test is also suitable for someone who has not been in a relationship for a long time, is afraid of repeating a previous experience, approaches new connections too cautiously or cannot determine which requirements for a future partner are truly important.

It can also be taken by a person who believes they are fully ready for a relationship but wants to check whether their intentions correspond to their actual behaviour, selection criteria, expectations and attitude towards personal resources.

The main purpose of the test is to show which changes depend on the person and could make their search for a partner more conscious, consistent and aligned with the goal of building a serious relationship.

Conclusion

Finding a suitable partner depends not only on the number of people someone meets or a fortunate combination of circumstances. It is also strongly influenced by how the person behaves, whom they choose, what kind of relationship they expect and how they use their time, attention, energy and money.

A person may sincerely want a serious relationship while becoming close too quickly, ignoring incompatibility, avoiding direct questions, choosing someone because of loneliness or expecting a partner to solve their personal problems.

Changing yourself does not mean remaking your personality for another person. It means adjusting the actions and decisions that repeatedly lead to an unsuitable choice.

When a person understands their real needs, evaluates not only emotions but also compatibility, can establish boundaries, discuss the future and make decisions without being controlled by the fear of being alone, the likelihood of building a suitable relationship becomes higher.

The test shows which aspects of behaviour, choice, expectations and use of resources already support the goal of a serious relationship and which require reconsideration.
